Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

AJoinville is the biggest city in the state of Santa Catarina with a population of 547000 inhabitants. The southern city is a German colony founded in 1851 with beautifully antique architecture to match.

This city is famous for a very prestigious ballet school called Bolshoi that is only found in Joinville and in Russia, because of this school, Joinville is home to the biggest dance festival in the world called el Festival de Dança (the festival of dance)! This is the most important festival in the whole country with over 4,500 participants. The festival is held in July and attracts audiences from all across the globe. Even though the festival is held in July, which would be in winter months of Brazil, the tempterature is spring like average of 20 degrees Celsius. The festival lasts for 8 days with compitions in not only ballet, but various styles of dance such as contemporary, tap, jazz, street dance and more!

Joinville is also called the city of flowers.  October would be a great time to visit when they have their flower festival. While you are there, there are lots of interesting museums to visit like the Joinville Art Museum and the Museum of Immigration and Colonization.
Overall Joinville is a very charming city filled with plenty of things to see and do. A worthwhile visit if you are headed to Brazil.
